Flatbed & Step Deck Trailer Financing

Flatbeds, step decks, double drops, lowboys, RGNs. Terms on a deck run 24 to 60 months, a shorter book than most equipment gets, and that difference alone moves the monthly payment enough that it’s worth calculating before you start negotiating on purchase price instead of afterward. Which deck you actually need is usually settled long before financing enters the conversation.

Flatbed & RGN Trailer Financing With Bad Credit

The freight picks the deck. A step deck buys you a couple of feet, and past that you are into a double drop or an RGN with a neck that comes off. A good lowboy runs what a used tractor runs, and there is no engine in it to explain the number.

That is also why it finances. A used RGN in sound shape does not sit long, so the deck carries the deal without a truck behind it. On the heavy units the questions get specific, mostly hauling history and permits. Rough credit costs you something there. It does not end the conversation. Nothing gets funded out of this office. The file goes to lenders who buy this kind of iron and know what a lowboy brings on a bad day.

Check These Before The Deck Is Yours

Can I finance a trailer by itself?

If the tractor is already yours, the deck stands on its own as collateral and your truck stays entirely out of the paperwork. There is still a question about what you’re pulling it with, since a trailer parked behind nothing generates nothing. That part is a conversation, not an obstacle. Financing a deck by itself is a considerably smaller commitment than financing a complete outfit, which is partly why buyers start with the trailer and add the tractor afterward.

Aluminum or steel, does it change the deal?

Less on the loan than on the scale. An aluminum deck weighs less than the identical trailer built in steel, and every pound you take off the trailer is a pound of freight you are legally permitted to put back on it, which is exactly why aluminum costs what it costs. Steel tolerates abuse better. If you drag equipment across the deck or load with a machine that scars whatever it touches, steel becomes the cheaper trailer over the life of the equipment even though it isn’t the cheaper trailer today. Combo decks sit between them, and all three get quoted and placed identically.
